The thinking man must oppose all cruel customs no matter how deeply rooted in tradition and surrounded by a halo...We need a boundless ethic which will include the animal also.

About Us

Jim Morris and Tamara Schweitzer founded Safe Harboar Farm in 2000 in response to the need for sanctuary for unwanted pigs .

Our Mission:

Safe Harboar Farm is committed to providing a safe, loving refuge for potbelly pigs. It is our mission to ensure the humane treatment of these wonderful animals, to understand their uniqueness, and the same time, address their needs and vulnerabilities.

To allow adoption of the younger pigs that are healthy and socialized but only to those individuals meeting our adoption criteria. Adoption will not be our main focus but will be considered in order to allow room for those other potbelly pigs with greater needs.

Provide a permanent home to those potbelly pigs that are not adoptable, whether due to abuse, obesity, blindness, health problems, etc.

To educate the public about the uniqueness of potbelly pigs, why they are great pets for some people and not for others.

Define responsible potbelly pig guardianship.  Emphasizing the need to spay and neuter all companion pigs.

Work with local, state, and federal agencies in order to accomplish our mission.

Network with potbelly pig sanctuaries and other rescue agencies throughout the United States.
